As we head into the New Year, do you have a big game, concert or event you’ll be tailgating at? Spending time with family and friends, showing your spirit, and enjoying great food are all reasons why we love this classic pastime.
Before your next game or event, be sure to bring these five essentials with you before heading out with your trailer:
Spare chairs
Tailgating is all about enjoying time with friends and family and kicking back before the game begins—so be sure to make it a comfortable experience for everyone involved! You can do this in a few ways. Bring a few camping chairs—preferably adorned in team colors—for you and your crew to sit back in. To make your tailgating spot the one to be at, supply extra seating for additional friends by packing extra folding chairs, an outdoor blanket, or, at the very least, a few stadium cushions to keep them off the ground. You can ensure that everyone will be comfy and ready to go come kickoff!
Sun protection
Any time that you’re going outdoors, sun protection (in all its forms) is a necessity. Be sure to pack enough sunscreen for everyone in your group and reapply it as necessary. For especially sunny days, dressing in sunglasses and a cap is also helpful.
You can also make your outdoor tailgating space more comfortable by packing a wide umbrella or, better yet, customizing your trailer with a no-fuss awning that’s always ready when you are.
Extra snacks
You already know to bring plenty of meats for grilling, as well as drinks, chips and other barbecue food. But don’t forget to bring a few easy-to-munch-on snacks as well! A veggie platter, individually-wrapped snack bags and other small treats are perfect for a quick fill-up when you or your group needs one.
Team gear
In addition to the team gear you don on your shirts and hats, find ways to incorporate team colors into as many items as possible for your tailgating experience! Often, kitchenware, gift or outdoor shops near you will offer you plenty of ways to do this—from serving trays to chip bowls to can cozies and everything in between.
Music
Top off your tailgating experience by playing your favorite songs all the while. You can use the speakers built into your trailer itself, if you have them, or pick up a portable speaker that can connect with your phone. By playing your group’s favorite pre-game tunes, you will all be able to enjoy each other’s company and tailgating fun.
